The oxygen in water is rarely sufficient for fish population. This is especially true of ponds with little natural exchange of water. Pollution of the water by phosphates, and dead plant material leads to over-enrichment of the water. We supply aeration equipment for commercial aquaculture farming as well as the enthusiastic hobbyist. Our waste water aeration system TURBO-JET works under the water surface – this is necessary in the waste water area in order to avoid unwanted odour formation. Increasing demands of fish quality, higher stocking densities, declining water supply and the use of high quality, expensive feed necessitate more effective oxygen transfer methods than surface aerators alone. With surface aeration, it is only possible to achieve a maximum of 100 % saturation, and then with the expense of high energy costs. This is because oxygen is only present in air at a low concentration.
Fish-farms can use water pumps all over the farm. Pond complexes also need pumps, to circulate water. To pump ponds out, top them up or return water to filters, low pressure pumps with large diameter outlets are ideal. Detailed specifications can be found on the following pages. The trouble-free, and stress-free transporting of live fish requires specialist equipment. This includes the fish transport tanks themselves, and also the oxygen supply equipment. Selection of the size of transport tank depends on the quantity of fish to be transported, the type of fish, the water temperature, and the duration of the journey.
Every fish farmer’s primary objective is to rear the fish as quickly and healthily as possible. For optimum growth, it is vital that the fish are fed continuously and regularly. These factors are important in determining water quality and feed conversion rates. It is important that the fish are fed daily. This can be done easily, and reliably, with pendulum feeders, or feeders with vibrator motors.
In order to keep safe the fish stock and the investment from the interruption of life support, it makes sense to install a monitoring system. Commonly, simple alarm systems are installed which are triggered by power cuts, and linked to emergency power generators.
